Slope and Embankment Stabilisation.
Biodegradable reinforcement systems that protect vulnerable slopes and embankments while vegetation establishes, reducing erosion and supporting long-term landscape stability.
The Challenge
Slopes and embankments can become vulnerable to surface erosion, runoff, vegetation loss and progressive instability. These risks increase where natural ground cover has been disturbed by infrastructure, construction or land modification.
- Rain-driven rilling and gullying on exposed slopes
- Loss of ground cover during construction and earthworks
- Reduced shear strength and slip risk on steep or reworked slopes
- Deformation of rail and road sub-grade under repeated loading, including mud-pumping and loss of ballast into soft sub-grade
Our Solution
FloraVeld combines biodegradable erosion-control and reinforcement systems with vegetation-establishment strategies to protect exposed soil while supporting the development of natural ground cover. Layered coir netting increases the friction between soil and fabric, improving the shear strength of the fill and allowing embankments to be constructed to greater heights while remaining stable during the vegetation-establishment period.

Technologies
Coir Geotextiles
Erosion-control and surface reinforcement, selected by mesh grade and mass for the slope gradient and expected rainfall.
Coir Reinforcement Nets
Used within rail and road sub-track layers to reduce mud-pumping and ballast loss
Erosion Control Blanket
Surface protection and vegetation support.
Coir Geocells
Soil confinement and reinforcement in appropriate applications.
Vegetation Systems
Planting and establishment strategies.
How It Works
Protect
Site assessment of slope gradient, soil condition, drainage pattern and rainfall exposure, followed by grading and preparation of a surface free of protruding stones and debris.
Reinforce
Blankets laid top-to-bottom in the direction of natural water flow, trenched and pegged with overlapping edges.
Vegetate
Seed applied by broadcast or hydro seeding, typically with a second application if germination is patchy.
Integrate
As roots take hold, the coir gradually breaks down, leaving the vegetation as the long-term stabilising layer.
Key Benefits
- Surface erosion control from the moment of installation
- Support for slope and embankment stabilisation, including greater achievable fill heights
- Reduced soil loss during heavy rainfall and runoff
- Vegetation establishment supported by an open mesh that still allows sunlight through
- Reduced exposure of vulnerable surfaces to wind erosion, as intersecting strands trap soil particles
- Proven role in reducing mud-pumping and ballast loss in rail sub-grade applications
- Progressive integration with the surrounding landscape
